Restaurant Inspections: Proper Hand Washing a Problem for Some Employees this Week

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, many restaurants have gone to takeout only, reduced hours or have temporarily closed. Please call ahead to make sure a restaurant's status has not changed.

The Knox County Health Department recently evaluated the following restaurants. Restaurant scores may change with follow-up visits; follow-up scores may not be immediately available. For more information on health scores, visit knoxcounty.org/health.

Archer's BBQ Commissary, 311 S Weisgarber Drive: Multiple food items observed out of original container missing labels; single service items (cups, lids) stored improperly. 98

Aubrey's At Papermill, 6005 Brookvale Lane: Multiple food items out of original packaging missing labels; build-up in ice machine; dust build-up on fans in cooler. 98

Zaxby's, 1636 Parkside Drive: Improper use of hand sinks observed; improper handwashing observed; restroom needs cleaning for employees. 96

Aubrey's At Papermill (lounge), 6005 Brookvale Lane: Dishwasher is not working properly. 95

Jersey Mike's, 4839 Kingston Pike: some food in cooler observed being held above 41 degrees; multiple soiled wiping cloths not properly stored in sanitizer; build-up in ice chute of the fountain drink machine. 93 (98 follow-ups)

Panera Bread, 4855 Kingston Pike: Hand sinks missing paper towels; milk and cream were observed being held at 45-46 degrees. 93 (98 follow-ups)

Waffle House, 6230 Papermill Road: Hamburger meat and pork chops improperly stored; some items on top of the cooler were observed improperly holding above 41 degrees; employee food improperly stored; dirty wiping rags observed not in sanitizer solution; tops/side of equipment and shelves dirty with build-up. 88 (97 follow-ups)
