Did You Know HEPA Filtration System Is Not The Only Air Purifier Around?

With Covid-19, everyone seems to understand the necessity of an air purifier but did you know that there are several ways to clean the air.  It depends on what you need actually, go over the 3 categories below to find out what you exactly need.

Particle Removal

If you need to remove particles in the air, this the air cleaner for  you.  There are 2 types of air cleaners in this category which is electronic and mechanical with the latter as the most common.  Mechanical air cleaners catches the particles with the filter.  High efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are in this category.

Gaseous Pollutant Removal

This method removes gases and odors by using a material called a sorbent, such as activated carbon.  Gas-phase filters are typically intended to remove one or more gaseous pollutants from the airstream that passes thru them.

Pollutant Destruction

There are 3 types of air cleaner that eliminates pollutants ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) cleaners, ozone generators and photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) cleaners.  UVGI cleaners use UV lamps to destroy viruses, bacteria, allergens and molds.  UVGI works well with filtration system. Ozone uses UV light or an electrical charge to produce ozone. Ozone is a lung irritant that can cause adverse health effects as reported by www.epa.gov.  It is not always safe and effective in controlling indoor air pollutants. Lastly,  PCO cleaners (like Hypoair’s Boomerang https://bit.ly/2WmV7rF ) use a UV lamp along with a substance, called a catalyst, that reacts with the light and produces a variety of molecules that sanitizes the air.

A good air purifier purchase comes from knowing what you need and doing your research.  Are you ready to buy one?
